MuSiC4Diabetes Partner FIDAM Presents Research at One of the World's Largest Diabetes Conferences

The MuSiC4Diabetes project was represented at this year's Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Milan by Norbert Hermanns and Dominic Ehrmann from the Forschungsinstitut Diabetes-Akademie Mergentheim (FIDAM).

As one of the world's leading scientific conferences in the field of diabetes research and care, the EASD Annual Meeting brings together thousands of researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals to discuss the latest advances in diabetes prevention, treatment, and technology. During the conference, Dominic Ehrmann delivered two presentations. His talks explored the relationship between glucose variability and quality of life, as well as the challenges surrounding reimbursement procedures for automated insulin delivery (AID) systems. In addition, he participated in a spotlight session discussing the clinical performance and psychological impact of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).

Norbert Hermanns presented research on the experiences of people living with type 1 diabetes when using automated insulin delivery systems across different stages of life, highlighting the opportunities and challenges associated with these technologies from a patient perspective. This year's EASD programme addressed a broad range of topics reflecting the complexity of diabetes management. Alongside diabetes technologies and treatment innovations, key themes included mental health, diabetes-related comorbidities, obesity, and the influence of biological sex and gender on diabetes care.

The Annual Meeting is organised by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), a non-profit, membership-based organisation dedicated to advancing excellence in diabetes care through research, education, and scientific exchange. Being part of such an active diabetes research community provides a strong foundation for further developing our closed-loop system, integrating many of the topics highlighted above into a single, patient-centred solution.
